Jared's first 5k

This past Saturday, Jared ran his first ever 5k.  He "trained" for it for about 2 weeks leading up to the race, and only ran one full practice 5k a few days before.

And after all that training (sarcasm), he ended up winning.

He's a natural.

Well, technically he didn't win the whole thing.  He got beat by a girl, but he was the male champion, and got 2nd place overall with a time of 23:59.  Not too shabby.

Before the race.  It was down at the Cotter river bright and early at 7:00 a.m.  And it was cold.

Hanging out at the starting line.

And they're off!  Better pick it up, man.

Almost to the finish line!

Done!

This is awhile after Jared finished.  The girls were watching all the runners finish.  Izzy was really intrigued by the whole thing.  Each time a runner crested the hill to head to the finish line, she would yell, "Another runner!  Here they come!"

I think he's a tad tired :)

Hanging out, waiting for everyone to finish.

Medal for winning his age division.

Izzy was impressed.

She was so excited!

All the winners.  Jared is second from the left.

The plaque was for being the male overall champion.

Nice Saturday morning!
