Third Grade 2017-2018

On this page, I am sharing what my current third grader's homeschool year looks like.  My plan is to keep this a live page, updating it as the year goes on.

(In addition to the following, my third grader also joins us for our Family Studies.)

First, here are the books my third grader is reading independently this year:

American History (15 minutes, twice per week, oral narration)
The idea behind this year's history selections is to introduce my daughter to famous people and events from American history, as well as a peak into what life was like in times past, through books at a comfortable reading level.

Completed:

6616269          6471

Currently reading:

18905707

Classical Studies (20 minutes, once per week, oral narration)
We're doing an introduction to greek mythology this year, reading D'Aulaire's book together, which will take most of the year.

79626

Science/Geography (15 minutes, twice per week, oral narration)
Science is still nature-focused, so I've selected books that will hopefully open her eyes to the natural world around her.

Completed:

4934100

Currently reading:

544648

Literature (15 minutes, four times per week, oral narration twice per week; increased to 20 minutes in week 8)
I hope that reading quality literature daily will help develop a desire for good books, and an ability to think deeply as she gets older.

Completed:

856114          20530951

Currently reading:

42337

In the big, empty boxes at the bottom of each day I write short, encouraging notes to her :)

The empty boxes at the bottom of each day is a place where I write short, encouraging notes to her.
